I just saw a movie today called "In The Heat Of The Night".  It's an older movie, but still very good.  It's set in the South, during...well...older days.  Basically, a black police officer travelling through the South is arrested on charge of a murder and winds up helping the police find the real killer.  In my opinion, it's really about the police chief of that town learning to be less racist.
