how do i explain a aspect of a culture that i do not like in the slightest because of its misognist, patriarichal roots, i a project where im required to talk about it?

I don't think it's misogyny, it's a thing in a number of traditional cultures due to the fact the bride leaves the house of her family and therefore they lose a household member, which historically would make survival/decent life quality harder. The guy's family isn't in the same situation because traditionally a married man would stay with his parents in many cultures, so they gain a new household member, not lose any. Also in some cultures it's seen as a way for the fiance to prove he is financially stable enough to be able to take care of a new family.
